Glass enamelling is a technique where powdered glass is fused onto metal to create colorful designs. The glass is heated in a kiln until it melts and bonds to the metal, creating a colorful and glossy finish. This technique can be simple, adding a solid color to metal, or more detailed, using fine metal wires to create intricate designs. Glass enamel is a popular way to add vibrant color and detailing to jewelry.
Our Enamel Workshop offers two options tailored to different levels.
Beginners can take the Enamel on Copper session, a three-hour overall introduction to enamelling. Participants will explore color layering, stenciling, and other basic techniques to create vibrant, enameled copper pieces.
For those wanting to dig deeper, the Cloisonné Enamel session provides a more in-depth, six-hour exploration of intricate wirework and multi-layered enamel applications. Both versions offer hands-on instruction with an experienced enamelist, allowing students to experiment with color and texture while learning the fundamentals of this technique.
